The persistent drought of the past few weeks has placed a severe strain on Kronberg's drinking water reserves. For this reason, the city's water traffic light was set to red on July 10. Thanks to the abundant rainfall of the past few days and a decline in consumption, the traffic light was switched back to yellow on August 3.
Nevertheless, even in the yellow zone, it is important to use precious drinking water sparingly. The city of Kronberg therefore continues to ask residents to keep their consumption as low as possible.
The following rules apply to yellow:
- Absolutely economical use of drinking water
- Garden watering maximum 2x per week for 30 minutes each
- No car washing with drinking water
- No filling of pools and cisterns
- Coordination of larger water withdrawals with the municipal utilities
To ensure a more even distribution of water withdrawal, residents with even house numbers should only water on even days, and residents with odd house numbers should water on odd days.
The city of Kronberg's public utilities provide daily updates on the current drinking water situation via the city 's website and social media. Push notifications can also be activated via an environmental app.
The city asks all citizens for their understanding and cooperation. By using water sparingly, we can prevent the situation from escalating again and the traffic light from turning red. Together, we can ensure responsible use of this precious resource, drinking water.
