Over the past two weeks, more water has rained down from the sky than we would have liked for the summer holidays. Accordingly, the water tanks and cisterns should be well filled. But the next heatwave is sure to arrive, and then water will be in short supply again.
That's why the city of Bad Homburg, the municipal utilities, and the Seedammbad are inviting visitors to stock up on free water from the Seedammbad's 25-meter pool. The pool needs to be cleaned regularly, and for this purpose, the 700 cubic meters of water must be drained. The chemical-free water has a pH of 7 and is therefore safe for use in gardens.
"In the interest of careful use of this valuable resource, we want to let as little water as possible simply run down the drain," says Mayor Dr. Oliver Jedynak.
The appeal is primarily aimed at businesses in the surrounding area that consume a lot of water, such as garden centers, farmers, or even municipal depots. "Of course, citizens can also use the water," adds Dr. Jedynak, but points out that a minimum purchase of 1,000 liters is required.
The "pumping event" will take place on Wednesday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the old washing area directly next to the indoor pool. The large access road also allows trucks access to the filling station. A pump with a capacity of 50 m³/h is available there. Anyone wishing to fill up water should report to the Seedammbad ticket office on site.
So don't forget: On August 9th and 10th, collect water from the Seedammbad and water the green areas!
